Hmm, I installed three or four times with the newest livecd and didn't
encounter this bug - with both single-partition and multi-partition
set ups  I have no idea how I missed it.

I won't be able to do anything about this until at least Sunday, sorry.

Can you choose mount points if you close the installer completely
after formatting and then run it again?
